Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Each year, the Government gives schools a sum of money to improve the attainment of children. Often, children who are entitled to pupil premium face challenges such as poor language and communication skills, lack of confidence and issues with attendance and punctuality. The pupil premium is intended to directly benefit the children who are eligible.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

Your child will be eligible if you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Universal credit (provided you have a net income of £7400 or less)
  • Income support
  • Income-based jobseekers’ allowance
  • Income-related employment and support allowance
  • Support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of state pension credit
  • Child tax credit, provided that you are not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of £16,190 or less
  • Children who are or have been in care, and children who have a parent who is or was in the armed forces, are also entitled to pupil premium.

Why should you apply?

  • All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 get a Free School Meal anyway. When they move into Year 3, this stops, and you will have to pay for the dinners…. UNLESS YOU ARE PUPIL PREMIUM. This could be a saving of £438 a year! Don’t get caught out!
  • You will get a discount on school trips
  • You get support with school uniform
  • Your child gets Free After School Clubs

How else does Stockingford spend the money?

  • Extra small-group support for children within the classroom.
  • Running catch-up sessions before or after school
  • Running a school breakfast club to improve attendance.
  • Contribution towards the payment of educational trips and visits.
  • Paying for additional help such as speech and language therapy or family therapy.
  • Investing in resources that boost children’s learning, such as laptops or tablets.
